Tell us about yourself (Who are you? Where are you from? What is your educational background?)
My name is Mohammad Ramin, I am originally from Iran. I did my master of science in Malaysia in the field of Animal Production.
I have a PhD in animal nutrition and management from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Currently I am a researcher at
Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Agricultural Research for Northern Sweden. I have mainly been working with
methane production from dairy cows, developing the application of an in vitro system to predict methane production in vivo and
modelling approaches to predict methane.
What is your area of expertise?
Techniques to measure methane production (in vitro) and in vivo with the GreenFeed system, modelling and animal nutrition relating
to factors influencing methane production in dairy cows.
Where does your focus lie within your current project(s)? (related to methane)
Mainly techniques and devices to measure methane production both in vivo and in vitro. Evaluating feeds and diets for methane estimates.
What would be the added value for you of joining an international researchers network? (such as the
METHAGENE network)
Networking and getting to know new approaches to measure methane production.
What and/or who inspired you to make a career in science?
Mainly my parents and the interest that I had to find out new things.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy working in the lab and getting to know new findings everyday within my field.
What is your most stand-out or surprising moment in science so far?
That how broad is animal science and that there is always something new coming up to discover and learn.
