My name is Corina van Middelaar and I’m working as a postdoc at the Animal Production Systems group of Wageningen University.
Last year I finished my PhD on the topic of mitigating greenhouse gas emissions along the production chain of milk.
Now I’m working in the field of environmental impact assessment of livestock systems with a special focus on dairy.

Where does your focus lie within your current project(s)? (related to methane)
Systems analysis of strategies to reduce GHG emissions of dairy systems.
What would be the added value for you of joining an international researchers network? (such as the
METHAGENE network, or the RuminOmics project)
Broadening my network, working with interesting and knowledgeable people, getting new insights that contribute to good research,
strengthen research by collaboration to make the livestock sector more sustainable.
What and/or who inspired you to make a career in science?
The supervisor of my BSc thesis who was a hard core scientist and showed me the beauty of doing research.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Working together with a group of enthusiastic and driven people that inspire each other to come up with brilliant ideas and new
methods to contribute to a sustainable livestock sector.
What is your most stand-out or surprising moment in science so far?
During my PhD I won an award to travel to the US to meet interesting people and to give an invited presentation at the ADSA conference.
