Blog post of STSM experience.

My name is Emanuela Parlato, I am an animal geneticist working with Italian water buffalo. My focus is on improving genetic selection of milk in the buffalo population. I have just got back from my short STSM at the University of Nottingham in England under the supervisor of Prof. Phil Garnsworthy. From my STSM I have carried out a great experience for my training on the technique from (Garnsworthy et al., 2012) for measuring the methane emission in dairy cows under commercial conditions. I had the opportunity to train on the devices utilized in this technique, to look at the way the technique works in practice and to better understand the principle behind that. I also had the chance to visualize the raw data obtained from the methane analyzer and the way by which the raw data are transformed in analyzing data. I am very confident that this training on the methane emission data will be very helpful for us to start the collection of the measurements on the methane emission data.
