Blog spot of STSM experience.

My name is Alexis Ruiz González. I am an Agronomist engineer specialized in ruminants. Since my master degree (in Mexico), I was focused on looking for feeding strategies to decrease the enteric methane production by ruminants, and now during my PhD at Ghent University (Belgium), I am working with early life methane mitigation strategies, emphasizing on the (risk for) adaptation of rumen microbes to this early life feeding intervention. Moreover, I would like to further optimize the in vitro systems that I had used until now to continuously monitor in vitro methane production, in order to better assess methane production kinetics, which is an essential parameter when studying the evolution towards ‘adaptation’ against rumen methanogenesis. The STSM that I have done at SLU, Sweden was a very good experience. I had the opportunity to meet the researchers working in my area and see some experiments going on. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to work and analyze the raw data of the automated gas production system. I am assured that this experience at SLU about the kinetics of methane production will be very useful for us at my home institute to further optimize ours in vitro system.
